Thirsty Much?, originally uploaded by Ariel Biley.

The Daily Dachshund and Dog News does not approve of dogs drinking out of human fountains. And we don’t aprove of putting your feet up on chairs at the cinema either — just in case you were wondering.

I respectfully disagree. My dogs teeth are brushed frequently; more than I can say for some people. If my options are let my dogs get dehydrated or boost them to get a drink from the fountain – you will seem them drinking from the fountain.

I let my Dachshunds drink from fountains on hot summer days. It sometime freaks out the tourist.

I don't have a problem with dogs and water fountains but I guess some people would….. those that don't love dogs as much as I do. What I normally do is take a glass and would fill it so my dachshund would drink out of the glass vs. the fountain. Picture is still cute thought!

Well it's fresh running water, not a bowl where people would have to drink the same water as the dog so I wouldn't have a problem with it. Having said that in summer I always have a little bowl in my bag so I's just fill it from the fountain for my doglings. In the Czech Repulic where I lived for a year, the human water fountains all had a lower part too for our four legged frinds… now THAT'S what I call service!

The dog isn't touching the metal parts of the fountain. Kids hang on the spigot, leaving little kid germs on the metal to be flushed out into the water stream. Lighten up. It is a thirsty dog. If someone let the dog stand there and pant while people enjoy a drink. That is cruel.

The Food Network's "Food Detectives" just did a piece on how clean water fountains are, and they're actually cleaner than office water coolers because of the way the water comes out in an arc.

Let the dogs drink!! I would have no problem with letting (or observing) a dog drink from the fountain. Of course, I'm a dog lover.
